Grady Smith(2004)he spent 44 years at Stratford Academy before retiring at the end of the 2014 school year. Smith coached nearly every sport at Stratford during his time with the Eagles but was best known for his work in basketball. He coached the boys team for 20 years winning 3 state tiles. In 10 years as the girls coach he won 4 state crowns. In 34 seasons as the boys golf coach his teams won 10 state championships. |

Richard L. (Dick) Frame
Dick Frame was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, however he moved to Macon in 1965 and has been here ever since. He graduated from Georgia Tech where he ran varsity track competing in the 110M hurdles,the 100 and 220 yard dash, the 4x100 and 4x440 relays and the long jump. His career highlight at Tech came in an SEC meet in the 100 yard dash when he defeated Heisman Trophy Winner Billy Cannon. But Dick’s involvement in the track and field program at First Presbyterian Day School is where he truly excelled. As a Sales Engineer with the Trane Company, he began volunteer coaching FPD students in Hurdles and the Pole Vault in 1979 and continues to assist with the program today even though he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2006. He currently has coached over 20 State Hurdle Champions and over 20 State Runner ups. He was the official Starter of the GISA state track meets from 1982 til 2010. His awards have been many including being named winner of the Macon Telegraph Sam Burke Award for Service to High School Sports in 2000 and recipient of the FPD Alumni Service Award in 2009. FPD dedicated it’s Track Facility to him in 2014-The Dick Frame Track and Field Complex. (more)
