      LeKevin Smith is Stratford Academy’s most acclaimed football player ever. Playing for Stratford he led the Eagles to two GISA state titles as a defensive lineman. He was named USA Today Georgia Player of the Year and was a Rivals.com All American among many other awards that he received. In addition to football he lettered in track and field four times winning four state titles in the discus and two in the shot put. He signed a football scholarship to play at the University of Nebraska where he was a mainstay on defense of the Huskers. He finished his career with 36 tackles for a loss, the second highest total for a defensive lineman in Nebraska history. LeKevin played in the Rose Bowl, the Independence Bowl and two Alamo Bowls in College. Following his collegiate career he was chosen in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He played for New England for three seasons when he recorded 18 tackles and had one fumble recovery in 31 games which he played. He was on t he New England Roster for Super Bowl XLII and recorded a half sack on Eli Manning of the New York Giants in the game. LeKevin was traded to the Denver Broncos during training camp of the 2009 season and recorded 10 tackles and one sack that season. (more)
