    • Craig Gibson

      Craig Gibson led River North Academy to back to back State Private School championships in 1981 and 1982 making all state honors both years as well as his sophomore season. He played collegiately at Mercer University where he was Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year in 1985. He is still in the top 10 in numerous offensive categories in the Bears baseball record book. His success as a player has carried over to the coaching ranks. Now in his 12th season as Head coach at Mercer he has led the Bears to never before heights in baseball. At the beginning of the 2015 season he had a 358-286 record with the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championship in 2010 and a regular season A-Sun title in 2013. Both those season he Bears earned NCAA post season berths, the only time in Mercer history have played in the NCAA Division I tournament. Since 1985 Mercer has averaged 38 wins, one of only four schools in the country to achieve that mark. Craig was Georgia Dugout Coach of the Year in 2010 and the A Sun Coach of the year in 2013 making him the only person in conference history to win both player of the year and Coach of the Year Honors Since 2006 he has had 16 players drafted by Major League baseball teams.
