Our Next Banquet and Induction Ceremony

Presentation begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of the Macon Centreplex. Induction ceremony and dinner will be held immediately following downstairs in the Monument Room beginning at 6:30pm.

Each year the Hall is honoring a local team or teams that had an outstanding performance(s). These are not inductees into the Hall, just a special recognition by the Hall of Fame

Earl Bowden is one of Macon’s top all time Amateur golfers. He played the sport at the University of Georgia three seasons , 1955, 56 and 57 for the legendary Howell Hollis. One of his best amateur wins came when he captured the Southeastern Amateur Championship at the Columbus Country Club in 1966. He has won the Cherry Blossom Senior Championship three times as well as the City Senior title, and he teamed with John Marbut to win the Peach Blossom title in 1966. In addition he won a State 4 ball championship teaming with Ed Barnes in 1978 and is a six times Idle Hour Club Champion. He also captured the Super Senior Amateur Tournament Championship in Nashville Tennessee. He won the 1965 Bibb County Open Golf Tournament title by nine strokes with rounds of 71, 66 and 71 and won the 1994 Georgia Seniors Championship. In 2004 Earl captured the Society of Seniors Championship at Boynton Beach , Florida. (more)
The Macon Sports Hall of Fame got its beginning as the Macon Athletic Hall of Fame in 1976 as a Bi Centennial Project of the Bibb County Jaycees. The Project was chaired by Jaycee Member Billy Hester.
